Mark Newman
Silver Star Cleaning Ltd is the third generation of cleaning, starting way back in 1952 with Jack Baker and his company Alliance Cleaning Services. His son, Mike Baker, started Anglia Cleaning Services in 1982. Mike's nephew - and Jack's grandson - Mark Newman worked for Anglia Cleaning Services part-time as a youngster, joining the company full-time in 1992. Mark had a steep learning curve as the company grew rapidly into the field of industrial cleaning, and was appointed Service Director for the newly-named MPM Specialist Solutions Ltd in 1998. Mark stayed in this position until 2003, when he left to start the third generation of cleaning and the company Silver Star Cleaning Ltd.
While working for MPM Specialist Solutions, Mark gained a huge amount of experience while working on a wide variety of cleaning jobs, including:-
- Grit-blasting the paddling pool next to Brighton's West Pier, to remove the paint
- Grit-blasting the Volks railway on Brighton seafront, to restore the rusty steelwork
- Removing graffiti from the walls of Buckingham Palace
- Removing graffiti from housing estates in South London
- Cleaning the exterior of the American Express building in Edward Street, Brighton
- Running a variety of large and small cleaning contracts.
